At last, a new piece of Italian legislation has opened the door to digital nomads who wish to eat spaghetti appropriately cooked and admire the Amalfi coast while working for their Company.

Digital nomads are defined as highly qualified workers who can work remotely for a non-Italian company, either freelance or as an employee.

What is more, is that they only need to demonstrate that they meet the requirements and apply for a visa from their place of stable residency. They will not have to apply for a residence permit once they arrive in Italy. The simple visa will allow them to reside in Italy for one year.

Within the beginning of May, the Ministry will specify the exact professional category that can be considered digital nomads, the income requirements, the type of required health insurance and the way to apply!
