The Italian Flow Decree for 2022 had set a deadline for applying for the security clearance needed to obtain several types of visas or residence permits to Italy. The deadline was the 17th of March 2022.
However, a Ministerial Circular of the 16th of March 2022 has extended this deadline to the 30th of September 2022 for specific applications.
In particular, the Ministerial Circular regards the conversions into a work permit of other types of residence permits held by foreign nationals already legally residing in Italy. According to the Circular, this category of foreign nationals residing in Italy can apply for the security clearance (Nulla Osta) to convert their permit into a work permit by the new extended deadline.
The circular has also reported that only 45% of the possible conversions were requested by the first deadline. This is the underlying reason for the extension.
