The Council of Ministers issued the Law Decree of 16 June 2020, published in the Official Gazette on the same date, and decided that applications for regularization for procedures relating both to the emergence of employment relationships and the issuance of temporary residence permits for foreign citizens with a residence permit expired on 31 October 2019, may be submitted until 15 August 2020.
These measures has entered into into force the 29th of May 2020 with a Decree from the Ministry of the Interior.
In particular, the art. 1 of the Interior Ministry Decree explains the procedure to be done at the competent Immigration desk by the employer who intends to regularise his employee or to hire an irregular employee, as well as art. 2 explains the procedure the same employer could also request at the INPS website. The employer must also pay a contribution of Euros 500 in order to submit the request.
On the other hand, the Decree provides for the possibility to request a temporary permit of at least 6 months, valid only inside the Italian territory, which can be applied by the foreign citizens in possession of an Italian residence permit expired from the 31st of October 2019. The contribution to be paid by the foreign citizen in this case amount to Euros 130.
This latter request must be done directly by the foreign citizen by fulfilling a postal kit and submit it at the competent Questura.
Finally, in both cases the regularization is allowed only for the following work activities: agriculture, animal husbandry and breeding, fisheries and aquaculture and related activities; assistance to the person for themselves or for members of their family; domestic work to support family needs, which are all specified with their ATECO code in the Annex od the Decree.
